M.S. Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism (Thesis Option)

The Master of Science (M.S.) thesis option is designed for students interested in progressing to advanced studies in a doctoral program, as well as those pursuing professional careers.

Program Details

  • Degree: M.S. Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism (Thesis Option)
  • Credit Hours: 32 hours of graduate classes minimum, plus other courses assigned by the student’s advisory committee

While the MS thesis program is customized by the student and their advisor to suit their circumstances, it is a common requirement that MS thesis students should take a minimum of 15 HMGT credits (not including HMGT 691). 

The M.S. coursework should include: 

  • Minimum of 3 credits statistics
  • Minimum of 3 credits of research methods
  • Maximum of 8 hours of HMGT 691 (Research)

A final degree plan should be approved by all members of the committee and should reflect the expected rigor of an M.S. degree.
