Dr. Mei Fung (Candy) Tang joined the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management and Tourism in 2022 as an Instructional Associate Professor. She is first generation college student as well as first generation faculty. She studied and gained her Certificate in Effective College Instruction from The Association of College and University Educators and the American Council on Education (ACUE) in April 2023. She was a previously tenure-track faculty in the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management at the University of Macau (2012-2021), being promoted from Assistant Professor in 2018. Dr Tang holds a PhD from Victoria University, Australia where she wrote her thesis on tourism economics (Hotel Occupancy Rate Volatility and its Determinants). She possesses hospitality qualifications from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (BA) and from Switzerland and a masters in Adult Education and Human Resource Management (UTS, Sydney, Australia). Her industry experience includes operational and training roles in restaurants and hotels. She was Graduate Program Coordinator for the MSc in International Integrated Resort Management at University of Macau from 2018-2021 and was thesis committee chair for 10 students. Dr Tang has published papers in top tier hospitality and tourism journals in the areas of human capital, training and career development and revenue management.
